Burnley Lights Switch On

Good evening,

Today saw the start of christmas for Burnley town centre! Burnley Believes was a fun filled event featuring the big man himself, Father Christmas, a lantern parade up the stretch of St James Street, and a firework display to celebrate the switching on of the Christmas lights.

Spirits were high all around, however not all were on their best behaviour. Not to worry though, Op Centurion officers were on top form!

One male thought it was appropriate to smoke cannabis at this family friendly event with plenty of young children about. Well, he thought wrong, and was dealt with accordingly.

Officers conducted numerous stop checks, and issued 2 PSPO breaches for those causing a nuisance in town centre. 

Officers also attended a report of an intoxicated female in company with her young child. The females welfare was addressed, referrals have been made and the child has been safeguarded. 

All in all, a very enjoyable day for those who attended the event for the right reasons!
